The Greysheet World Service Board met twice during the month of July. The Board has increased the number of times it meets in order to continue to carry on the regular business of the Board and to give additional time to support the work of the World Service Conference Committee.
This year the annual face to face meeting of the Board will occur prior to the NYC Round-Up. It is a requirement for Board membership to be present for the annual face to face meeting. This year’s meeting will be longer than usual and primarily dealing with preparation for the World Service Conference.
The Nomination Committee of the Board is seeking candidates to fill four Board positions. These Board positions would serve to assist the Board secretary, treasurer and World Service Conference Committee Chair. The Board makes an effort to recruit members who can provide a broad geographical representation in the U.S. and internationally.
The initial meeting of delegates from the 19 Intergroups, who will be the voting members at the World Service Conference, had their first round of meetings on July 27th and 28th. Gayla Z., Board Chair of the World Service Conference Committee and Esther Helga, Greysheet World Service Board Chair, and Barb R., Board Secretary, facilitated the gatherings. Delegates had six opportunities to attend a one hour orientation session that is preparing them to develop the topics for the conference. The delegates are representative from the Intergroups and the meetings in their region. They will be responsible to assist in the preparation for the World Service Conference and communicate the information between the World Service Conference Committee and local communities. The first meetings were a great success. This is a great step toward Greysheeters Anonymous developing a structure that will be guided by the will of our membership.
Mary C. has taken the role of Assistant to the World Service Board Chair, and in that capacity will be writing monthly reports on the activity of the Greysheeters Anonymous World Service Board.
