Agenda – January 29, 2012

“This we owe to GSA’s future; to place our common welfare first, to keep our Fellowship united. For on GSA unity depend our lives, and the lives to come.”

  1. Open with Declaration of Unity Prayer, Serenity Prayer, and the reading of the 12 Traditions
  2. Identifying GSRs and members of our community who are present
  3. Discussion of the best means to distribute the GSAWS Inc. copyrighted GreySheet

Background Information for the Discussion:

  • The legal, copyrighted version of the GreySheet is now published as a PDF and available to GSA Intergroups to distribute.
  • The GSA Board of Trustees is considering the most prudent and effective means to distribute the GreySheet, keeping in mind the GS has typically been accessed through a sponsor and the document itself cannot be altered in any way.
  • The GSA Board of Trustees has proposed that the GS be distributed through the Intergroup structure. The Intergroups are asked to document written permission from GSAWS, Inc. The process is outlined on the GSA website with letter templates and addresses available.
  • Some Intergroups have already mailed formal written requests to the GSAWS, Inc. President for permission to copy and distribute the legal version of the GreySheet.

We are asking for feedback and discussion on how best we can do this especially for people that live in outposts.

Please note:

We will follow the "AA Sharing Session" format which means that each person present gets one two-minute timed share. The purpose is to allow all voices to be heard in order to see if substantial unanimity emerges. If time remains, a second round may begin. Our open sharing sessions are not necessarily attempting to reach a definitive solution at this time but rather to have all ideas on the table.  Often, however, group conscience emerges and the path is revealed.

4. Close with the “I am responsible…” prayer and the "we" version of Serenity Prayer
“I am responsible…when anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help. I want the hand of GSA always to be there. And for that; I am responsible.”

Hope to see you there!

Purpose of GSA World Service

E-mail Print PDF

GreySheeters Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other to recover from compulsive overeating by following the GreySheet, a food plan for carbohydrate sensitive people.  We weigh and measure without exception three meals a day with nothing in between except black coffee, tea, diet soda, or water.  We utilize the program of Alcoholics Anonymous in arresting compulsive overeating. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop eating compulsively.  There are no dues or fees for GreySheeters Anonymous membership.  We are self-supporting through our own contributions.  GSA is not allied with any sect, denomination, religion, politics, organization, or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes.  Our primary purpose is to help compulsive overeaters to achieve abstinence.

What is GreySheeters Anonymous World Services, Inc.?
In 1996 the world-wide GreySheet Community was surveyed by a GreySheet Task Force.  The primary request in the survey was for the community to create a formal organization to carry its message of recovery from compulsive overeating using the GreySheet and the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous.  The result is recovery on three levels - physical, emotional, and spiritual.  On April 6, 1998 GreySheeters Anonymous World Services, Inc. was incorporated as a Twelve Step program to implement the mandates of the survey.

Letter From Board Chair to GSA Community

E-mail Print PDF

Dear fellow members of the GreySheet fellowship,

I have been asked by my fellow board members to take on the position of chair to the GreySheeters Anonymous World Service Board. This is an assignment I take on with deep humility. I understand the huge responsibility this position represents, and I will do my utmost to be trustworthy of it.

My first thought when writing this is of our former chair Marvin A., of his vision and passion for our community. He has held the beacon high and guided our way; without him and numerous others that in the last decade or so have paved our path into our own fellowship, we would not have come so far. I salute you Marvin A. and thank you from the bottom of my heart. It is because of people like you that I'm GreySheet abstinent.

I, like Marvin A., and so many of you, have a vision of my fellowship. It is of a strong and thriving fellowship of people weighing & measuring their food. I see it growing worldwide as people get more and more guided to the solution we have.

In my mind, there is no coincidence that the salvation of this century, the solution of the 12 steps, was brought to the sickest of the sick, to AA members and later us the low bottom gluttons of the world. From the recovery we receive, we give hope, that even we can get well.

As our disease will be acknowledged by the World Health Organization (WHO) and accepted as one, more people will realize what is really wrong with them and we will have more people join our fellowship. History of AA shows this as truth.
