Three Fold Solution

My name is [Anonymous] & I am a compulsive overeater.  I weigh & measure three meals a day from the greysheet, write them down, commit them to my sponsor, don't eat in between no matter what and abstinence remains the most important thing in my life behind God and it's the best thing I can do for today.  It seems like only yesterday that I walked into the rooms of greysheet.  I remember the first person or people I saw at my first meeting and said to myself, I don't think I belong here because everyone looks so serene and happy.  I was told to 'keep coming back.'  I was so much in despair because of what the food had done to me.  No self-esteem, etc.  Something told me to keep coming back and I did no matter what.  I didn't understand that I had a disease of three fold.  Mind, body and spirit.  The physical part happened rather quickly.  I lost the weight within the first year of abstinence.  Then I was introduced to the 12 steps and AWOL.  Through weighing & measuring I continued working the program over the years and continue today.  My family at the time didn't understand what I was doing for myself and pasted comments but I kept weighing and measuring no matter what.  Today I live in an outpost and mostly listen to telephone meetings and keep weighing & measuring no matter what.  It's not easy to do but I keep one foot in front of the other and do the next best thing.  The quality life I live today is a miracle.  For the newcomer "keep coming back and welcome to the journey of your life." This is a short version of my abstinence.  Maybe one day I'll write the long version which will turn out to be a book.  Thank you all for listening.
