Nominating Committee

Nominating Committee Procedures

  1. The Nominating Committee will consist of an odd number of Board members as appointed by the Board, e.g., 3 or 5, etc. each of whom will have at least five years of abstinence.
  2. The NC will maintain a list of interested candidates in preparation for the next vacancy.
    1. The Nominating Committee (NC) will accept suggestions throughout the year for prospective Board members.
    2. Sources may include the interested GreySheet member, Board members, or other GreySheeters.
    3. Within 30 days of receiving a suggestion, the Chair of the NC will ensure that the candidate is willing and eligible to accept a position on the Board before adding them to the list. 
  3. The Chair of the NC will present to the Board the candidate or candidates and explain the reasons for recommendation.
  4. Once the Board has made its decision, the Chair of the NC will ensure that each candidate is informed.Usually the approved candidate is invited to join the Board for the next regular meeting.
  5. The candidates which term will start at the next coming conference attend meetings as "learning base" in order to prepare for their duties. They don't have a vote except if the current Board decide differently.
  6. The list of the candidates is presented at the WSC.

The Nomination form shall be submitted to the titled as Nomination.

The following are recommendations for consideration as qualifications to become a trustee:

  1. Be an active member of GSA who has at least five years of back-to-back abstinence. For Class B Trustees: Have the desire to serve on the GSAWS Board of Trustees to share your experience gained in business, health organizations, other 12 step program World Service Boards. For Class B Trustees: Not a compulsive eater.
  1. Be committed to working the GSA Steps Traditions, and Concepts of GreySheeters Anonymous. For Class B Trustees: have a working understanding of the GSA 12 Steps, Traditions, and Concepts.
  1. Be committed to service as a way of life and be willing to grow through service and its challenges. Be available with the skills, time, and organization to competently fulfill commitments to GreySheeter's Anonymous World Service Board of Trustees and the GSA World Service Conference.
  1. Manifest the desire and ability to be a trusted servant with the right of decision, to work independently, and to be part of a cohesive team.
  1. Demonstrate the flexibility and willingness to work with others when the group conscience was not one's first choice.
  1. Have both the technology (telephone, computer, printer, and email) and communication skills ( written, verbal, and temperament) to facilitate group process.
  1. Have the ability (time) to travel at least once a year or more on GreySheeters Anonymous business (WSC conference or Board meeting).
