Intergroup Areas

Area intergroups consist of a collection of groups which work together to support the member groups in our primary purpose. The member GSRs elect one Intergroup Service Representative (ISR) to serve the fellowship as a delegate of the World Service Conference. The ISR is only elected by those who are themselves elected by the groups, i.e., the GSRs.

Intergroup areas are determined on the basis of equitable representation and effective communication.

  • Equitable Representation: Because each intergroup sends only one ISR to the conference, GSA World Services recommends that intergroups consist of between 5 and 20 groups. Intergroups with fewer than 5 member groups are encouraged to combine with another intergroup. Intergroups that exceed 20 member groups are encouraged to divide into multiple intergroup areas. The number of GSRs registering as delegates for the World Service Conference from a single area intergroup shall never exceed 20.
  • Effective Communication: Because modern technology enables effective communication across large geographical distances and many parts of the world have few groups, some Intergroup areas (such as Europe) encompass large geographical areas, while others (such as New York Metro Intergroup) comprise a large number of groups in a small geographical area.

These are the currently registered GSA area intergroups.

Africa, Australia & Asia

As of 2022, there is no group registered in this area, so the intergroup has not officially formed.

Connecticut

The Connecticut Intergroup(CTIG) covers all 8 state counties with approximately 50 members within the 6 groups.  Although small in number, we are an active, service-oriented fellowship of people willing to carry the GSA message of hope.
In addition to numerous zoom meetings, CTIG is proud to offer two in-person meetings.

Meetings:
CT Daily Zoom One and CT Daily Zoom Two provide 6 virtual morning meetings, Monday-Saturday.
Greenwich Monday Zoom at 7:15 pm
Greenwich Monday in-person at 7:15 pm
Fairfield Wednesday Zoom at 6:00 pm
Westport Saturday in-person at 8:45 am
All meetings are Open and listed on the website.

Retreats:
CT offers a One-Day in-person Retreat  held at Saugatuck Church in Westport.
Additionally, we hold an annual in-person Three-Day Retreat at The Incarnation Center in Ivoryton.

Service:
5 GSRs and 1 ISR are involved in a variety of WSC committees always willing to serve both the CT community as well as our world-wide fellowship.

Treasury:
CTIG has a sound, well-managed treasury built from generous donations by meeting attendees.  As a result, we regularly contribute funds to GSAWS.
